A comfortable Vespa seat is essential for taking on a long journey. If the saddle is not comfortable after a few hundred problems arise that can impair the trip itself.

The choice adopted for my P200E was to have a comfortable Vespa seat, derived from a model on the market, namely the King & Queen, then customized to make it a single-seater.

Conoda saddle for Vespa single-seater

The King & Queen is recognized as one of the most comfortable Vespa seats, and the idea of making it a single-seater has already been successfully implemented by other travelers such as Ilario Lavarra and others whose Vespas are on display at the Piaggio Museum in Pontedera.

The main advantage of this solution is that the entire rear luggage can be moved forward, almost completely reducing the cantilever effect on the rear wheel. To do this, the best solution is to set up a reinforced, custom-made rear rack, precisely so that luggage can be housed immediately behind the seat. In my case, I started with a commercially available rear rack, then modified and customized it to suit my needs.

How to build the comfortable seat for Vespa

For the construction of the single-seat seat, I started from the normal two-seater for sale that I had completely unlined, going to cut off the part related to the passenger.

All the original padding was retained and the rear door padding was redone where the seat was cut. At that point the same outer lining was put back on and a piece added on the back, taking advantage of the same material removed from the passenger seat.

Some care was needed in checking with the tank cap not being crushed by reinforcing elements inserted into the underside of the seat.

Having removed the rear lock, I decided to keep the saddle free, which is moreover much more convenient and quicker to open when there is a need to restock.

The result is truly outstanding with a comfortable Vespa seat that is unmatched by any other model.

Personally, I have used it for 11500 km, from Italy to Nepal, with daily driving times averaging between 6 and 10 hours, with no problems whatsoever, even when I spimed longer driving times.

Returning from Nepal I went three days to Croatia and being two, I had to temporarily remount the original saddle. Doing a few hours of quida without my single seat was agony.
