I was not born in Conegliano, but I grew up there, I built my family and I live there.
I write this post with some reflections on Conegliano, from Zahedan, which is a place out of this world, on the border between Iran and Pakistan …, As the overlander travelers say “in the middle of nowhere”.
Exactly one month ago, on 7 May, I left Conegliano with my red Vespa P200E, with the very ambitious goal of going around the world.
It was first of all a choice of life, or rather the desire, at 58, to do what I have always dreamed of, or to travel the world on a Vespa.
It is not a holiday as we are used to thinking, there are many unknowns and difficulties. The spending budget is limited.
In one month I crossed 10 states, traveled 7,500 km, saw many places and met a lot of people.
I always travel with the Italian flag on top of my bags, I’m proud of it and believe me, I’ve met Belgians, French, Germans, Danes and Dutch … no one travels with the flag.
When they ask me where I live in Italy, I mention Conegliano, they don’t know her, but I realize that I am excited to explain where she is “between the mountains and the sea, in the Prosecco hills, a UNESCO heritage site” … Beautiful.
As often happens, you realize the value of what you have, only when you no longer have it.
All here, it was just an open reflection, for those who want to read it.
Tomorrow I will try to enter Pakistan (it seems that a part of the country will be escorted by the police) and then to India, continuing to carry with me this message of promotion of our city which is not beautiful just because it is ours, it really is.
If you write to me on my website vespup.com, on Facebook or on Instagram, it will be a bit like being at home for me.
Thank you
