Description

In recent years, awareness of the value of time has taken over and pushed me more and more toward change in a new, very different, and because of that, perhaps, more difficult direction.
I decided to change my life and give up all professional and economic certainties to do what I felt inside, dedicating myself to myself and my passion: the Vespa. From that moment the journey began.
I had to face many choices and challenges, the path I took was not only marked by the miles I traveled, but also by personal growth and the discovery of what I was, and what too many times you want out of habit I never got to see.
Knowing oneself is essential to one’s well-being and to understanding how to be happy.

I encapsulated my adventure in this book with the serenity and conviction that I had once again made the right choice.

A compelling and exciting solo motorcycle, or rather, Vespa, trip, certainly in some countries very challenging. 11,500 km in nearly two months through Eastern Europe, Turkey, Iran, Pakistan, India and finally Nepal.
Each country was a discovery and a thrill, from the beauties of Turkey, a mind-blowing Iran to say the least, to the 63 armed escorts to cross Pakistan, to the anxiety and stress check in India, due to the late afternoon breakdown of the rear shock absorber. Nepal, an ideal place to find one’s mental well-being and happiness.

Turkey Erzorum store Vespup.com

Turkey – A country somewhere between Europe and Asia that makes its diversity one of its main peculiarities. The whole southern coast, beautiful and spectacular. The Anatolian Plateau with its thousands of kilometers at altitudes between 1,500 and 2,500 meters, unspoiled and almost uninhabited places that offer unique views. Turkey and Cappadocia are one in the same, Göreme with its hot air balloons, Istanbul with its mosques and Grand Bazaar, and Erzorum, at 2,000 m, with its quaint corners and this somewhat “vintage” look.

Iran travelogue from Tehran to Esfahan Vespup.com 1

Iran – In Italy people think of Iran as an extremist and dangerous country, but instead it is anything but, a true discovery. Nature takes center stage, beautiful mountains, the hot deserts present from north to south, the salt lake. The cities, one more beautiful than the other where the Persian origins are fully perceived. Yazd, Tehran, Bam and many others, each more beautiful than the last. The people, hospitable and helpful, in an almost embarrassing way. They love the outdoors, even in the evening, picnicking everywhere. An ideal place for solo or group motorcycle trips.

Travelogue Pakistan police escort Vespup.com 4

Pakistan – A difficult country to understand and very challenging to cross, always and only escorted by Police. The history of Pakistan speaks clearly, the continuing tensions and difficulties in relations with Afghanistan and India are symptomatic of a situation that is anything but peaceful and stable. From the Iran border, to Lahore, in the far east 20 km from the Indian border, 1600 km done changing 63 Police escorts and sleeping in barracks., without having my time and being able to decide what to do. Practically Impossible to visit Pakistan as a normal tourist.

India travelogue Indian hospitality Vespup.com 3

India-The country where the Vespa is the stuff of legend, so much so that for many, many years the Vespa was produced in India under the LML brand name. In an apparently difficult situation of a broken rear shock absorber, I discovered and appreciated the free and unconditional solidarity of the Indian people. Magical places where you can breathe spirituality and the culture of how to fight stress, in short, the ideal country where you can learn to love yourself and learn the art of being happy.

Nepal travelogue Vespup.com 1

Nepal – Despite its poverty-stricken condition, there is a completely different air and atmosphere in Nepal. The people are quiet, positive and rule-abiding; they are a people who have learned to be happy even in seemingly uncomfortable situations. A nature that holds sway, in the time of monsoon rains the very frequent landslides make travel difficult, though not impossible, especially by Piaggio Vespa. When I arrived, the satisfaction was such that my first thought was : “Happiness comes when you choose to change your life.”.
