Croatia

Croatia to be discovered

Starting from Italy, and after a quick crossing of Slovenia, I landed in Croatia, where I traveled about km, partly on the coast and partly in inland areas. The landscapes are obviously very different as the coast is scattered with many villages, small and large, all beautiful, starting from Novigrad, up to the extreme south of Croatia, on the border with Montenegro. You can choose at random, without fear, to stop for a pleasant and relaxing break. The internal area, on the other hand, is mountainous, with continuous ups and downs and curves. To do the interior, obviously excluding the motorway, you must not be in a hurry and savor the beauties of the area which, at every bend, paints a different picture. The two main landmarks, not to be missed, are definitely Split and Dubrovnik

Da non perdere

Split – I arrived in Split in the evening and the view you can enjoy, coming from the highway from above, is of great impact. The size of the city is immediately perceived, far from small and with many opportunities to visit.

What struck me from the first moments was the liveliness of the city, with many young people crowding the many clubs scattered almost everywhere. The hostel where I slept is particularly nice and welcoming. Recently built or renovated, it has comfortable rooms and large common areas at the entrance (see photo), as well as a super-equipped kitchen. In short, a good point of reference for those who agree to sleep in shared rooms, but spending no more than โ‚ฌ 15 per night.

Unfortunately, the next day not mine I stopped to visit the city, there will certainly be an opportunity in the future, given the extreme proximity to Italy.

Dubrovnik – Continuing along the coast, you come to Dubrovnik, a city steeped in history. Already from the entrance towards the center you can perceive this richness, the road, quite narrow, slips between the walls of the castle, which are narrow and several meters high. After the arch, you arrive in the square facing the sea, characteristic for its dense vegetation.

For those who have time and want to get to know the city better, visit the inside of the castle, and then let yourself be lost in the thousand pedestrian streets of the historic center.

Everywhere you can eat very well, meat, fish and vegetables. The prices do not differ much from Italy by now, but the quality of the service and the cleanliness, at least for the places I have visited, I have always found them at the highest levels.

Croatia was a quick transition, but the conviction that it is an excellent solution for summer holidays from Italy has taken root in me, whether by land, by car or motorbike, or by sea.
